Culture

Maybe I'm reading to much Ian M. Banks at the mo but when I saw this picture of a top deck mould I immediately though it looked like a small 'Culture' space ship from the Banks universe. Under construction inside some huge GSV! Hmmmm.... The Rapid Offensive Unit: 'Pink Cloud'... maybe!

Yes yes, I'm a geek, I know!

Wings and t'ings

I've been waiting for a while, but finally my new wings are here! The Purple Austrian Supertanker has been looking a little flaky around the wheel arches so I decided to treat her to a new set of front wings. The lovley people at Everycarpart sorted me out a treat, and the sprayed them up to! All I need to do now is figure out how to fit them...

4 Generations

Four Generations of family from left to right; My Grandfather, My Father, My Nephew and Me.

Today amongst the madness and insane demands of an egotistical jobs-worth at UH a moment of clarity came. I got the news that my grandfather had died. Suddenly the troubles at work, the petty arguments and silly grudges all melted away into insignificance. Like some one pressed the pause button on the rest of my life. It is a cliché, but life is short, we only have what we make during our limited time on this ball of rock. Family, friends, loved ones and legacies. So whilst there are people out there in the world who may value their ability to bully and order others into doing something pointless because they are to ignorant and proud to realise - they are wrong. Those people will not gain anything, they will become eaten up with bitterness and miss the whole point of what we are here for! They are the losers at the game of life. That's it - a game, we all have roles to play and I think I have a fairly good tactic. I say think, I don't know, but it feels right... I love life, who I share it with and what it has to offer me. I welcome experiences - good and bad, they all teach you somthing about you and about life. I also, try to suround myself with good people - all of them different in thier ways, sometimes they can pester me, other times they can make me laugh till it hurts, most of them I would do anything for - but ALL of them are genuine and good people. ...and at times like this, when you are at you most hurt & needy - good people are always there for you. Somthing my Grandpa always used to say.

Take some time to talk to someone today - some one in your family, an old friend, maybe someone you have fallen out with. Because it's never to soon or to often to tell someone how much they mean to you.

End of another Year at UHSU...

And So I print off another set of Sabbatical pictures as we wave off another collection of people from the extended family that is UHSU. In each of their own ways I will miss them. Mainly I'll miss Maz (the bearded fellow on the end, his antics have kept me amused daily and the choice escapades have acted as great 'dining out' stories to my friends outside of the Su. It's been a fun two years working with him - and the others. I hope the new guys are as cool! So to the 2005-2006 team I say good luck and thank you for all the times, good and bad, I learnt from them ...I hope you did to! Posted by Picasa

6 go mad at Nurburgring

It all looks peaceful and serene - yet all our engines where at about 110 degrees, our brakes where glowing gently, tyres where melting, cars and bikes could be heard screaming past... and Raoul had taken off his jumper!

I have to say a big thank you to all involved - it really was one of the most momentous breaks I have had and I will remember fondly for the rest of my life. Roll on Nurburgring '07

Pictures can be found here on Marty's flickr site and here on James' and also a selction from Psi

Caption Comp!!

Helen's obvious look of concern as to what the Ginger Beast may be doing to Pete made Kev and myself think that this would be a great choice for a caption competition! Posted by Picasa

Fuel!

I love my car ... It loves it's fuel. Damn the fuel prices!
This is my fuel needle and this is where it tends to sit most of the time - it's also a good indicator
of my concentration levels today... Just under half a tank! Posted by Picasa

Tea wastage!

Just read through the comments on the post entitled caption 2. All I can say is marty wins - I laughed so much tea came out my nose.
I can now smell tea even when tea isnt present, and my keyboard is slightly moist.

Marty - you win a slice of Banoffe pie when I next make one, oh and you owe me a fresh tea!

Work aint so bad...

Yeah so .. Friday at work - I was essentially paid to cover the nipples of a former page 3 model that had visited with 'flirt' logos. I must point out that I didnt get to do it in person... just to the pictures before they where uploaded to our flirt pages at www.live2flirt.co.uk. Still can't complain - if only every day involved such niceties! Posted by Picasa

Umbrellas and Traffic Jams!

I sat in a traffic jam for 25 mins this morning and at the end of it there seemed to be no accident or blockage, no vast amount of traffic - nothing! I hate it when there is no reason - I expected at least an upturned custard truck or somthing!

I get to work finally and I'm given a huge logoed umbrella - I didn't ask for one ... and until they thrust it into my hands I knew nothing about it. Why we have them I don't know! Is there a flood of biblical proportions coming that only the senior management of UHSU know about? Are we all going golfing on some deranged team building exercise? Are we to use them upturned to receive our final instructions from the mothership? Or...Have we got so much spare cash at the mo that we need to buy all the staff a branded gift?

Wibble...

Ginger Rich!

It's all Ginger Rich's fault ... you can't comment on his pesky site without having a sodding blog... so now I have a blog.

Whether I post anything on it remains to be seen!
